Hi Betzaida!
Welcome to planDisney and thank you for your question!
It's always a good idea to check the current
prohibited and restricted items before you start packing for a cruise. Many electronics are not allowed to be brought on the ship or could be subject to inspection. Walkie-talkies are not listed among the prohibited items, so it's likely you will be able to bring them on your cruise, but it's ultimately up to the inspectors at the port.
Because the ship has significant amounts of metal in the infrastructure, I think you may find that walkie-talkies are not an effective option for communication while you're onboard. To keep your party connected at sea I would recommend that everyone with a mobile device use the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to send messages back and forth. You can send individual or group messages, and there are even cute Disney emojis to use! There is no fee to use the ship WiFi to send messages in the app.
Now that we know what not to pack, let's talk about what you should absolutely bring! There is a
great packing list online to get you started. The most important thing is to bring all your
required travel documents and keep them in the bag you carry onto the ship with you. I also like to keep our swimming suits in my backpack so I can enjoy some time at the pool when I board, even if my luggage hasn't made it to my stateroom quite yet. It's never too soon to get the vacation started!
Wishing for you to have blue skies and smooth seas on your adventure, Betzaida!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
