i wanted to go to disney for 1 day magic kingdom. im going with 2 kids 3 and 5 with my wife. Is there anything i need to know beforehand for exam when to buy tickets, fast lane

Greetings, Terry, and welcome to planDisney! It's my pleasure to share some helpful information that will help you plan a very magical visit to Walt Disney World.

Based on your plans, Terry, a one-day standard date-based ticket to Magic Kingdom park seems like the best choice if you're only looking for theme park tickets. The cost of this kind of ticket varies based on the date and park you choose at the start of the purchase process. Theme park tickets are required for Guests ages 3 and older, and I recommend getting them soon. That way, you can rest easy knowing the tickets are ready in your account. Tickets can sell out, although it's more likely around major holidays.

To make the most of your day, consider using Lightning Lane passes, which give you access to a shorter line at select attractions. There are different options available, including the Lightning Lane Multi Pass, which includes several participating attractions. Unless you're staying at a Disney Resort hotel or other select hotel, your window to purchase the Lightning Lane Multi Pass will be three days before your park visit. You'll want to have your theme park tickets by this point. During the purchase, you'll choose up to three starting multi pass experiences and arrival windows. Try to do it right when your window opens for the best availability of options.

Make sure you have the My Disney Experience app downloaded on your phone and that you're signed in to your MyDisney account. You'll need it to manage Lightning Lane passes, check wait times, mobile order food, view showtimes, and more.

As a mom of two young kids, I wanted to leave you with a few tips I've learned along the way that can make your day go more smoothly:

    • You'll want a stroller. That way, the kids won't get overtired from all the walking. If you don't feel like bringing your own stroller, you can rent a double stroller for the day once you get to the park.
    • Pack familiar snacks so you'll be ready when the kids get hungry between meals. Just don't bring glass containers, as they are not allowed in the parks.
    • Set expectations for souvenirs ahead of time. We usually let our kids each pick out a toy as we're getting ready to leave.
    • An autograph book can help bashful kids feel more comfortable meeting Characters.
    • Plan for breaks. Mickey's PhilharMagic and a ride on the Walt Disney World Railroad are easy and fun ways to slow down.
I know that’s a lot of information, Terry, but I hope it helps you feel confident as you continue planning your magical visit. Please don’t hesitate to reach out again if you think of more questions – we're always happy to help here at planDisney!
