Hi there, I wanted to take my daughter to Mickeys backyard BBQ in may 2019 but I heard it may be closing. Is this true? Just trying to figure out my dining plans as 180 days is getting close! Thanks!!!

    Welcome BACK, Beth!

How exciting that you'll be coming back Home in 2019! I like to keep a rolling list in my phone between my Walt Disney World Resort Vacations of all the new menu and snack items I can't wait to try the next time I'm at the Most Magical Place on Earth. Most of my list comes from the Sweet Treats and Best Bites updates of the Disney Parks Blog, which is also one of my favorite places to get all of my world-wide Disney Parks news.

Sadly, yes, Mickey's Backyard BBQ will be ending its run in its current location at the end of this year. The rumor I've seen on the internet is that it might return to a new location sometime in the future, but I don't have the proper Magic Mirror to accurately confirm that information.

In the mean time, here are some of my favorite Disney Dining Locations that I would use as a substitute for this dinner show. I absolutely love Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue for the fact that much of it remains the same as when it premiered in 1974. It's fascinating to watch the various forms of cultural dances in Disney's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show. If you had your heart set on good BBQ, I love both the weekend brunch at Trail's End Restaurant as well as the all-you-care-to-enjoy skillet (and Cast Member antics) at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Chef Mickey's is a classic location if you were wanting to dine with Mickey and his pals. But for a different set of characters with whom to dine, the Evil Stepsisters over at 1900 Park Fare are more witty and hilarious than they are mean and wicked.

I am so sorry that your initial desired dining location is unavailable, Beth. But I know that you'll find the perfect replacement!
