Welcome Back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Sheli ~
I absolutely love
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! It is my favorite special event at the Magic Kingdom.
There will be tons of Guests at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dressed up (myself included). I have seen some amazing and clever costumes. However, the Halloween spirit doesn't move every Guest to dress up and that is perfectly fine. You will see some Guests (kids and adults) dressed in some pretty spooktacular costumes while some will wear a simple Halloween T-shirt and Halloween Mickey Ears and others will not dress up at all. If your son doesn't want to dress up, he certainly will not be the only child there that does not. He will still be more than welcome to go through the trick-or-treat lines even if he isn't wearing a costume.
Ten can be a tricky age when kids are torn between being a little kid and wanting to be "cool" like the older kids. Maybe you can talk him into a Halloween t-shirt or pack one for him in case he changes his mind at the last minute. They sell some Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party T-shirts and merchandise in the Magic Kingdom once the party begins if he decides he wants one. There is also lots of pirate things at the exit of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction that could be options as well.
Even if your son doesn't want to dress up, that doesn't mean you can't. Be sure to review the
costume guidelines for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party before picking out your perfect costume.
