wanted to add genie-plus to my park tickets, but system not allowing me that options. have followed all directions and states that my tickets cannot be modified until day of admission.

    Hi Adan, welcome to planDisney!

What are you doing next week? That's right, you're going to Disney World! You must be so excited, and slightly overwhelmed, about your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation. In the words of my favorite reindeer Sven, "You feel what you feel, and those feelings are real." Let's see if I can help you feel confident about your plans for purchasing and using Disney Genie+ service in the parks next week.

As you've experienced, certain ticket types are unable to add Genie+ in advance. This includes the ticket I currently have linked to my My Disney Experience account, and I'm not mad about it. When you add Genie+ to tickets in advance, it must be for the duration of your ticket. For the same price per person per day, you and I can add Genie+ on each of our park days in the My Disney Experience mobile app (three small lines on the bottom right of the home screen --> "My Genie Day" --> scroll down --> "Get Disney Genie+ for Today"). This means we also have the flexibility to not purchase Genie+ on each of our park days. In my experience, Disney Genie+ service grants the most wishes on full days in the parks when the goal is to experience as many attractions as possible. On a recent family vacation, I was happy with my decision not to purchase Genie+ on our EPCOT day because we arrived after noon and had plans to take a stroll around World Showcase before our table service dinner reservation and Harmonious viewing.

Whether you purchase Disney Genie+ service in advance or as early as 12:00 a.m. on your park day, the Genie will not start granting wishes until 7:00 a.m. on each park day. At that time, you should be on the Tip Board in your My Disney Experience mobile app, ready to book your first Lightning Lane attraction. That means you should plan on completing your Genie+ purchase in the My Disney Experience app by at least 6:45 a.m. You'll probably be too excited to sleep, anyway, and the loss of a few extra minutes staring at the ceiling wondering when your alarm is going to go off will pale in comparison to the thrill of racing around EPCOT in Test Track or taking a ride on the wild side in Kilimanjaro Safaris in Disney's Animal Kingdom park.

Something you can do in advance, Adan, is customize your must-dos, attraction preferences, and more in the My Disney Experience app (click the three small lines at the bottom right of your home screen --> "My Genie Day" --> "Get Started Now.") In addition to valid admission, make sure you have park pass reservations in place for each park day.

The parks are filling up next week and I recommend prioritizing your must-do attractions as the most popular attractions can run out of arrival windows. I have one last bit of good news to share with you, Adan. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Frozen Ever After, and Space Mountain are being included as Genie+ Lightning Lane attractions through August 7, as opposed to requiring a separate, Individual Lightning Lane purchase.

    Plan magic; planDisney.
