I will be at Walt Disney World September 27-October 3 and have a split stay reservation at Disney’s Copper Creek and Disney’s Saratoga Springs. I have done split stays however I am always looking for new ways to make the transition easier. Can you help?

Hey there, Larry - Welcome Home, and welcome back to planDisney! It's great to see you again and have the opportunity to lend a helping hand with your vacation planning question. You've got a friend in me, and I'm happy to offer some of my favorite tips for making the most of your September split stay (can you say that three times fast?). Let's get to it!

A Disney Vacation Club split stay is really the best of both worlds, letting you experience not one, but TWO amazing resorts at Walt Disney World. You have picked two great ones with Disney's Copper Creek Villas and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa - well done! First and foremost, your planning for the resort switch starts with your packing strategy. I like to use packing cubes to keep my belongings organized, and I'll usually do a quick load of laundry the night before we check out of the first resort (courtesy of the DVC laundry facilities!).

On your check-out and check-in day, think about whether you want to use Bell Services to transport your bags to Saratoga, or if you prefer to take a rideshare and handle them yourself. A car means that you control when your bags arrive at the resort, rather than waiting for Bell Services - but it's also going to cut into your park time. I generally prefer to drop the bags early and have a leisurely breakfast before checking out. Whispering Canyon Cafe is a great choice before you leave Copper Creek!

If you're planning to head to a theme park, it may be tricky to drop bags and still make rope drop, so plan accordingly!  You can certainly head off to a park and worry about the luggage later in the day when you're ready for a break. If you go this route, be sure to pack a bag that you can take with you with essentials like sunscreen, medications, and water bottles!

Since you'll be just across the way from Disney Springs, your Saratoga check-in day might be a perfect time to enjoy the many great restaurants and shops! It makes for a more relaxed day, and you can easily walk to the resort once your villa is ready. Although you really can't go wrong with any of the dining options at Disney Springs, my go-to recently is Summer House on the Lake. They have a great variety on the menu, and everything is fresh and delicious. After your meal, find a perfect sweet treat at Gideon's Bakehouse - their peanut butter cold brew is incredible, and their enormous cake slices and cookies are perfect for sharing!

Larry, I also recommend taking some time to check out the Member Benefits section of the DVC website. There are all kinds of deals and discounts listed here, and it's a great resource when you're making dining reservations and plans for some souvenir shopping!

I hope these are some helpful tips for your planning purposes! Thanks for coming back to see us again at planDisney, and please don't hesitate to reach out again anytime. It's been a pleasure!

    Stay Magical,
    Susan
