We are going to Walt Disney World November 24-29, 2019 and this will be the first time for my son to go. He will be 7. I was wondering why are they not having The Very Merry Christmas Party during the week of Thanksgiving when were are there.

    Hello Bryce!

Thanks for bringing this great question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  The holidays truly are a magical time at the Most Magical Place on Earth-  the Magic Kingdom and the entire Walt Disney World Resort.  The decorations throughout the parks and resort hotels are beautiful, and you will no doubt experience the joy of the holidays.  However, the same things that make it extra magical during the week of Thanksgiving including typically great weather, schools being out of session and the official kick-off to the holiday season also draw large crowds. These larger than average crowds would make it difficult to close the Magic Kingdom early.

But, the good news:  there is a Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party on your arrival date! Since this is a special ticketed event, you won't need to utilize one of your regular park tickets to attend.  And, as most seasoned party-goers will tell you, you are allowed to enter the Magic Kingdom with your party ticket as early as 4:00 pm even though the party doesn't officially start until 7:00 pm!

If you want more holiday fun, check out the Candlelight Processional.  The opening night for the 2019 season is November 28th.

    Happy Holidays!
