    I will going to Walt Disney World with my family , April 22 - May1 /2010. My 20 year old son is visually impaired.Are there attractions which would better suited for him?

    Hi, Michelle!  My husband is also visually impaired, but determining which attractions are best suited for your son is entirely up to what his preferences are.  My husband cannot appreciate any of the 3D effects in any of the attractions that have them, but he wouldn't miss them for anything, as the other effects have so much more appeal for him since he lost some of his vision.

    You don't say how severe the impairment is, but you can obtain park information in braille when you arrive, and you can also rent a recorded description of the attractions.  There are some places where the lighting is lower, such as in the queue at Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion, and my husband usually needs extra assistance in those types of places.

    If your son isn't afraid of the thrill rides or has no other reason why he couldn't ride them, I've spoken to several low and no vision people I've met through my husband who say the thrill rides provide the biggest and best sensation.  There are also attractions, like the Hall of Presidents, where although he might miss out on the lifelike animatronics, he can still appreciate the story being told.

    My husband has a go anywhere, do anything attitude - up to the limits of his disability (he is unable to enjoy the thrill rides, unfortunately), and he usually finds enjoyment in everything, from the parades and shows to even the fireworks.  I say let your son be your guide in determining which attractions he wants to do and take it from there!
