Hi, we will be at Walt Disney World on Dec 30th and 31st and are interested in seeing the fireworks at Magic Kingdom; we think it's called "Fantasy in the Sky". Do you know what time the fireworks are and the best viewing areas.

Hi, Kelly!  Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I cannot think of a more magical place to ring in the New Year than the Walt Disney World Resort!  Although specific event schedules and fireworks times have not yet been posted, you can find some early information pertaining to New Year's Eve at Walt Disney World Resort on the Walt Disney World website.  As you mentioned, Fantasy in the Sky at Magic Kingdom Park is listed here as part of the New Year's Eve festivities.  Be sure to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog to catch all the latest news and announcements regarding New Year's Eve events.

As for where to go for a great view of the fireworks, I'm happy to tell you that you have lots of options.  If you wish to watch the fireworks from inside Magic Kingdom Park, I would recommend arriving early, as the park can be quite busy on holidays.  While you'll have a great view from anywhere along Main Street, U.S.A., in my opinion, some of the best spots to watch the fireworks are in the hub area in front of Cinderella Castle.

Keep checking the Walt Disney World website to see if any dessert parties are offered in Magic Kingdom Park on New Year's Eve.  On a regular day at Magic Kingdom Park, I love to attend the Fireworks Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing.  This event provides you with a delicious selection of treats at Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant and a spot in a reserved section of the gardens in front of Cinderella Castle.  This is my favorite place to take in the spectacular Happily Ever After Fireworks.  I have not yet heard if a dessert party will be offered on New Year's Eve, but if it is, I would highly recommend it.

If you're looking to enjoy the fireworks away from all the hustle and bustle, Disney's Contemporary ResortDisney's Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa all have great viewing spots.  The accompanying music is even piped in to give guests the full effect of the show.  Although the schedule does not yet go as far as New Year's Eve, if Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise happens to be sailing that night, this would be another magical way to take in the show.

Wishing you a pixie-dusted New Year's Eve celebration!
