Hi Jennifer, and welcome to planDisney. Thanks for stopping by with your question. With four theme parks, two water parks,
Disney Springs, and more than two dozen Disney Resorts Collection hotels, a Walt Disney World vacation offers more to do than you could possibly fit in one trip. And what does that mean? You are definitely going to get your steps in while you are here.
Like you, I enjoy taking the scenic route when I can. When I’m staying at Disney’s Beach Club Resort or BoardWalk Inn, there’s nothing better than filling up my Resort Refillable Mug with coffee and walking along Crescent Lake to Hollywood Studios or EPCOT. It’s peaceful, convenient, and a perfect way to get the legs moving before spending a day in the parks. Similarly, when I’m at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, I often skip the monorail. The walking path from Gasparilla Island Grill to the entrance of Magic Kingdom takes about ten minutes, making a midday swim or nap almost too easy to pass up.
While you won’t find signs advertising a walking path from the Transportation and Ticket Center to
Magic Kingdom, it is possible. When you’re standing and looking at the ramps that lead to the monorail or ferry, look to your left and you’ll see the pathway toward
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Follow that path, walk through the Polynesian near the new
Island Tower, and continue along the edge of Seven Seas Lagoon. You’ll pass the Grand Floridian Wedding Pavilion, the
Villas at Grand Floridian, and the main lobby of the Grand Floridian before finding signs for the walking path to Magic Kingdom. All told, it’s just under two miles and usually takes around 30 to 40 minutes. If you aren’t in a hurry, it’s a great walk that lets you explore two incredible resorts along the way. Don’t be afraid to stop for a snack or some shopping as you go.
I hope this helps you map out your route, Jennifer. If you’d like recommendations on dining options to enjoy during your resort detour, feel free to send another question my way.
I’d be glad to share my favorites.
See you real soon.
