Jambo, Cristal, and welcome back to planDisney!
You and I have a lot in common in that we're both super planners. Every second counts when walking from one wondrous destination to the next. I am more than happy to help you maximize your day at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, my favorite park at Walt Disney World Resort. Let's get into it!
After a nice (highly recommended) safari through the African savanna via
Kilimanjaro Safaris, you'll want to visit the nearby lush
Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. Explore the many paths that will lead you to zebras, birds, and of course, gorillas. My family likes to spend about 30 minutes in this area.
Now, the trek from Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail to the
Festival of the Lion King is not very long. Walk through Harambe Village, and turn right before you hit the river near
Tusker House Restaurant. Before you can say "Hakuna Matata," you'll find yourself at the Festival of the Lion King. In total, this walk should take you about 5 minutes (depending on how fast you walk).
I have a secret, Cristal. You'll want to remember this one for the rest of your Walt Disney World Resort adventures. In the
My Disney Experience app, you can actually find the walking distances (or drive time) and directions between any two points on property. Open the app, and click on the map pinpoint icon. Find "Attractions" in the dropdown menu, select your desired attraction, and click "Get Directions." This is one of the handiest tools in my Disney vacation planning toolkit!
AN EXTRA GEM: On your way to the Festival of the Lion King, don't be surprised if you get carried away by the beat of the
Tam Tam Drummers of Harambe. Take a moment to join the party! Also, beware of the ah-mazing Lion King-themed Simba Sunset DOLE Whip at
Tamu Tamu Refreshments. They also have a Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail Sundae, which I haven't tried yet, but it would fit in with your day's adventurous itinerary.
Because Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park is my go-to place for endless exploration, feel free to
revisit me here at planDisney if you have any further questions about this truly unique Disney locale. I'm all ears, Cristal!
Magic always,
LeAndra
