Can we walk from wilderness lodge to the wilderness camp ground?

Hi Patti! You will be happy to know that both the Fort Wilderness Resort and the Wilderness Lodge Resort are connected by both water taxi boats as well as a walking path.

The walk is about a mile but well worth taking. When we stay at the Fort I try to walk every day and my favorite place is that path. There has never been a day that I did not see some of the resident deer and often turkeys.  Sometimes you have to know where to look but they love that area so be sure and bring your camera.

To find the walking path at the Wilderness Lodge head out to the bus depot area where you would catch the park buses. Keep walking past them and you will see a sidewalk. That sidewalk will continue  to the paved path. You will come out just across from the main Disney stables in Fort Wilderness. Pioneer Hall is right next to that. Be sure and have time to visit these stables as there is a small museum inside. Cinderella's ponies can be found outside too.

Please note that this path is NOT lighted so it is not recommended that you would take this at night. If you need to get between the two resorts after dark you can head to the marina next to Pioneer Hall and hop on the water launch that connects the Fort to the Wilderness Lodge and Contemporary Resort. When you are at the marina this is the boat on the right. The left side boat takes you to the Magic Kingdom.

Enjoy and say howdy to my "deer" friends!
