Hi there! What is the walk like from the cabins at Fort Wilderness to the boat transportation to magic kingdom?

Hey There, Hi There, Ho There, Lauren!

Welcome to planDisney! We are DELIGHTED you stopped by and are so excited to help you plan your upcoming trip to Disney World—the perfect place to escape into a world of magic, excitement, and endless fun. Whether you're exploring the parks, enjoying delicious treats, or soaking in the incredible atmosphere, every moment feels special. We can't wait to "See You Real Soon!"

I have to start by saying that you will LOVE staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins! In fact, this is my family's favorite place to stay at Disney World! After having an incredible day at one of the Disney Theme Parks, it is just so nice to come back and be surrounded by nature to decompress after a MAGICAL day. With cozy, fully-equipped cabins, you get the perfect mix of rustic charm and modern comfort, plus plenty of space for the whole family.

What a great question! Based on where the cabins are located on the property, you would be walking for a very long time to make your way to the water taxis to Magic Kingdom. All cabin loops are located closest to Outpost Depot, which is near the front of the property. I am a runner, so I know that it takes me around 15 minutes to run from the cabin area to the Fort Wilderness Marina. Now, I am very happy to let you know there are internal buses that will pick you up from bus stops at each cabin loop so you can take a bus ride to Settlement Outpost, the stop closest to the marina. Each bus will make a few stops along the way, but you really don't waste a lot of time on the buses.

I will say the greatest way to have the flexibility to travel to and from your cabin all around the Fort Wilderness property is to rent a golf cart. We have rented a golf cart for several of our trips, and this has been a game-changer! It lets you quickly get to the pools, dining spots, and activities while enjoying the beautiful, scenic surroundings. Plus, riding around in a golf cart adds a unique and relaxing touch to your stay, making every trip feel like part of the adventure! Another added bonus is that the golf cart feels like another incredible Disney attraction if you have young kids!

As you continue to plan, make sure you check out the Disney Parks Blog for the most up-to-date information regarding all things Disney. Mickey and his pals have some incredible surprises planned, and we don't want you to miss a thing!

If you have other questions, please let us know. We are here to help in any way!

    Have a MAGICAL day!
