Can I just walk to the beach when we go to St. Thomas and Tortola? We will be on the Disney fantasy. Thank you

Bonjour, Jonathan and welcome to planDisney!

I am excited to read that you will be sailing an Eastern Caribbean itinerary with Disney Cruise Line on my favourite ship, the Disney Fantasy – I can tell you from first-hand experience sailing this itinerary is one that you will enjoy immensely. The ports at St. Thomas and St. John are enchanting and picturesque!

Typically, when Disney Cruise Line docks at St. Thomas, it is at the universally known Havensight dock, properly named The West India Company Dock located on the south side of St. Thomas, not very far from Charlotte Amalie. The dock area has been developed offering a large shopping mall and many eateries. Walking to the downtown and nearby beach is not far and is easily done. The beach boasts fine, powdery sand, and it is bordered by a wide wooden boardwalk with many eateries and shops. On the other side of the beach, the downtown area offers all types of shopping, including luxury brands and souvenir shops. Disney Cruise Line – Port Adventures in St. Thomas offer many exciting excursions to optimize your visit.

When visiting Tortola, typically Disney Cruise Line docks at the Cruise Pier in Road Town which was redeveloped to accommodate larger vessels and offers a complex for visitors with dozens of shops and restaurants – quite often you will see that it is a place where many land tours assemble, and it offers a separate pier for boat tours. Road Town surrounds the harbour like an amphitheatre and it is a busy centre of island life and very similar to an international city. If you are interested in beach activity during your visit to Tortola, the closest beach is Cane Garden Bay, less than five miles west of the cruise port – so you may need to consider a taxi, or a Disney Cruise Line – Port Adventure in Tortola that offers a beach. If you are interested in snorkelling among the reefs, then you should consider Brewer’s Bay Beach. If surfing is more your style, then you may wish to visit Josiah’s Bay Beach. Josiah’s Bay Beach is also close to Parham Town. One of the widest beaches on Tortola is Elizabeth Beach at the far northeast tips of the island at Lambert Bay. The views are outstanding with stunning views, palm groves and picnic spots.

To book your Disney Cruise Line - Port Adventures and Onboard Activities, please keep your Disney Cruise Line - Castaway Club Member status advance booking window in mind - if you are sailing with Disney for the first time, your advance booking window will open 75 days from your sail date.

Jonathan, it was my immense pleasure helping a fellow Canadian Disney fan today and I wish you a magical voyage!
