Hey there, Lauren!
Walt Disney World Resort is the Most Magical Place to Race! I'm glad you sped by planDisney with your hopes of joining in the fun of these races.
Registering for a
runDisney event takes a bit of speed and luck as bibs sell out more quickly than the Olympians in the 100-meter race. Unfortunately, there is no waiting list for sold-out races. I know the disappointment. I wanted to register for Goofy's Race and a Half during the
2025 Walt Disney Marathon Weekend and it sold out while I was waiting in the queue. I was able to register for the half marathon and the marathon but not the challenge.
I was very intent on the challenge and stalked the website, logging in several times a day and trying to register. After months of persistence, it worked! runDisney occasionally opens additional spots. It may feel like a futile effort at times, but it worked for me. Faith, trust, and pixie dust.
There is one more race weekend in the upcoming season that has not opened for registration yet, so one more chance.
runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend is April 3 - 6, 2025. The themes for this weekend's races were just announced last week. With Groot, Mrs. Incredible, Big Hero 6 and Hercules, this weekend is all about the heroes. Registration opens on August 27, usually at 10 a.m. Eastern.
Registration is not complete until you have completed all the steps, including payment. To speed through, I log into my
MyDisney account before registration opens. On the runDisney site, you can do this by scrolling to the bottom of the home page and selecting "Manage Account." I type my credit card information into a document so I can quickly cut and paste it on the payment screen. Even with all the tricks, there is no guarantee, as I experienced earlier this year.
If you really want the incredible experience of a runDisney event, I find Springtime Surprise to be the easiest registration. The timing of the event, with school schedules and Spring Break, seems to make it more accessible. You still need to register as soon as it opens, but I have not found the races to fill up as quickly.
If you are hoping for Marathon Weekend or the
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend races, keep logging in and checking the site. There is hope.
Like you, I wish you luck getting the races you want and being able to lace up your sneakers for a runDisney weekend. Please come back to
planDisney with any other questions. We're cheering for you!
Every Mile is Magic!
