Ahoy, Teresa!
Booking Port Adventures for a Disney Cruise Line vacation can be so much fun, but it can also stress me out! I always want to pick the perfect excursion for my family, and there's so many amazing Port Adventures to choose from at each port. My husband prefers a day at the beach, my teenagers want to do something adventurous, and I like to immerse myself in the local culture. With so many differing opinions, we try to find adventures that include something for everyone!
While you can certainly wait until you're onboard to book your Port Adventures, you may find that some of the most popular excursions have limited availability and could be completely booked by your sail date. I encourage you to explore the Disney Cruise Line website's
Port Adventures page to compare the excursions offered for your port. You can filter the results by Port of Call, Experience Type (Active, Nature, Sightseeing, Private Adventures, Signature Collection, Splashtacular, Culinary, Cultural), Activity Level (Athletic, Moderate or Mild), Accessibility, and Price Range. Once you've narrowed down your favorite options, you can search the internet for trip reports for the particular adventures you're interested in. This worked like a charm for us on our last cruise - we were able to read reviews from cruisers that had experienced the Port Adventures we'd chosen, and see their pros and cons for each one. We were able to choose excursions to please everyone in my family, and had an amazing time in each port!
Once onboard, if you'd like to stop by the Port Adventures Desk to get a better overview of the Port Adventures you've chosen, the Cast Members are super helpful and can assist you if you'd like to make any changes.
Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I hope this helps with your planning! - Diane W.
