With the wait times increasing will Disney start allowing fast passes again or other line holders?

Welcome to planDisney, Mary! In a few weeks, Walt Disney World will be your playground for a magical vacation. Heigh ho, heigh ho, it’s off to work we go to answer this great question!

There’s a lot of speculation about when FastPass+ service will return to the parks. And I can understand why because it is such a game changer when it comes to maximizing time and getting to experience all the favorite attractions! But there has been no official announcement by Disney on when this will return yet. I don’t believe that it will be back in time for your late October vacation. However, rest assured that the goal of temporarily pausing FastPass+ was to allow Guests to adequately social distance in the queues...something that has been working with great success!

So to make the most of your park time, here are a few planDisney tips that will optimize your opportunity to experience all the attractions:

-Be at the parks at rope drop (aka when the parks first open). That way, you can head to the more popular attractions first thing. Whether it’s Expedition Everest-Legend of the Forbidden Mountain at Disney’s Animal Kingdom or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom, hopping on your favorite attractions right out of the gate just sets the tone for the day.

-Make an advance dining reservation for as late as possible for one of the restaurants in the parks to be some of the last Guests. Bonus: there’s something magical about walking through the parks when they are virtually empty and just soaking in the ambiance.

-Use mobile ordering to save time in line for food and beverages. This is a genius feature of the My Disney Experience app and something I fell in love with when I first used it to get a Dole Whip at Aloha Isle. This link spells out how mobile ordering works step by step.

-Look for the character cavalcades and those special holiday moments that will be sprinkled throughout the parks. From Winnie the Pooh with his butterfly net chasing butterflies in EPCOT to the Pixar Pals riding in a motorcade at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, these are the warm fuzzy moments that remind us why we love Disney so much and just add that extra special glow to our vacations. Ok, so this may not save any time, but it puts us in a great mood to explore the parks with family and friends!

To stay on top of the recent developments, I always encourage Guests to check the Disney Parks Blog for announcements. In this ever-changing environment, things are updated daily, so I always defer to what you might "Dig-Dig-Dig" up on this site.

"Whistle while you work" on your travel plans, and give us a little whistle with more questions if you need more planning advice. Wishing you a fun-filled, pixie dusted vacation!
