How are the wait lines for rides being handled without fastpasses? Is the social distancing of 6 feet between everyone still being used?

    Hi there, Karen!

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question.

As Walt Disney World Resort Returns to a World of Magic, guidelines have been created to best provide a safe environment for Guests as well as Cast Members during this unprecedented time. I've visited the Walt Disney World theme parks numerous times since the reopening this summer, and have very pleased with all the protocols that have been put in place.

Since Disney's FastPass+ system has been paused at this time, all Guests wait in the regular Standby lines for attractions. Social distancing signage and ground markings are spaced throughout the queue, giving Guests clear guidelines on where to stand so that parties can wait in line at a safe distance from other Guests. From my experience, most Guests are very good at adhering to the distance markers.

Due to the social distance markers being used in the queues, some lines may appear longer than they actually are. No need to worry if you see a line that seems to stretch way past the attraction entrance - I've found that most wait times are about 10-15 minutes shorter than the posted wait time! You can find Wait Times in the My Disney Experience mobile app, and they will also be posted at the entrance of each attraction.

My best advice to experience the shortest wait times for favorite attractions is to arrive early to the parks. My family has learned to appreciate the benefit of being early birds, and riding some of our favorite attractions before wait times grow longer as the day goes on. (Sometimes we even make time to head back to our resort for a short nap to rejuvenate after an early morning!)

I hope this helps as you plan your visit to Walt Disney World Resort! Please come back and visit us here at planDisney if you think of more questions before your trip. We'd love to help add a little extra magic to your vacation!
