Hi Cindy!
Thanks for your question! We have a 3 year old granddaughter who absolutely loves
Haunted Mansion. If we ever visit
Walt Disney World without going on it at least once or twice, she is not a happy camper! Like your little one though, she has a tough time with the area leading up to the actual Ride itself. More than once we have had to leave with her before even reaching the Ride! Because there is no way to skip ahead to just the Ride portion, though, we have tried several things to help her be able to handle those first minutes until she gets to the part she REALLY is excited about. What finally worked for us is this: we bring along headphones and a tablet for her so she is completely immersed in watching Little Mermaid (her favorite Disney movie!) during that time. She can't hear the "scary" noises in the room and isn't interested in anything else that is going on around her (besides Ariel, that is!) Perhaps you can find some way to district your little guy for those few minutes, as well. It has worked great for us!
By the way, have you ever visited Walt Disney World with your grandson during the Fall months and been part of
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party? If he is a Haunted Mansion lover I bet he would go crazy over this not-so-scary celebration. My granddaughter absolutely LOVES it!
Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. We love helping Guests so please come back if there is anything else we can do for you.
Have a magical day!
