    We are visiting WDW this year and have purchased the dining plan. Is it possible to substitute an appetizer or salad for the dessert when dining? We have someone in our party who is diabetic and can't eat that many sweets.

    We have been able to make substitutes, but it depends on the restaurant, and what they are and are not able to do.  If its a medical need, the restaurants are very accommodating to families and dietary needs.  When we were there last Fall, our daughter's best friend has Celiac's Disease, the Dining Plan options, had to be manipulated a bit, so that she could get the food she needs.  We were accommodated at every turn.  There isn't flexibility with the snacks however, but the table service meals, we had a wonderful experience.  Have a great trip!!!
