We're visiting WDW the week of the 4th of July. We're staying at The Wilderness Lodge. Is it true that transportation to other parks other than MK by boat is very time consuming? Also, is it typically overly busy during this holiday at WDW?

Hi Kristen! My family and I traveled to the Walt Disney World Resort during the Independence Day holiday in 2009. Coincidentally we stayed at the beautiful Disney's Wilderness Lodge. I can tell you from personal experience that you won't be spending an exorbitant amount of time waiting for the Disney buses and/or water launch at this resort. In fact, I would say the average door-to-door commuting time between Disney's Wilderness Lodge and the theme parks is at most 40 minutes. The water launch from the resort to Magic Kingdom is almost always a much shorter wait, whereas the travel time to the Downtown Disney Area is the longest. It will very likely be the case theme-park attendance will be higher than normal on both the 3rd and 4th of July. However, I wouldn't let that deter you from celebrating the Independence Day holiday in the theme parks. Read HERE to learn more about celebrating the 4th of July Disney style! Please let me know if I can answer any other questions. Have a memorable visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
