We will be visiting WDW over Veteran's day weekend. My husband is a member of the military and I was wondering if there are any special ceremonies to celebrate our veterans. Thank You!

    Hi there, Mindy!

Many thanks to your husband for his service, and thanks to you for being supportive of armed forces personnel.

Every day, there is a special flag retreat ceremony held in Town Square at the entrance to Main Street, USA in the Magic Kingdom. And each day, Magic Kingdom Cast Member selects at least one veteran to participate in the ceremony.

The person selected will receive a certificate, a photo taken at the event, and a pin.

There are conflicting reports as to how to receive this opportunity. Some suggest that this is a random chance selection, based on a Cast Member seeing a veteran using his/her Armed Forces ticket to enter the Park; other say that the veteran should visit Guest Relations upon arriving to indicate his interest.

You might want to call Shades of Green, the military-exclusive property at Walt Disney World Resort. They can be reached at (407) 824-3400. Surely, they will be able to direct you to the right resources for finding a special way to honor your husband.

    Again, thank you.

    Have a wonderful trip!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
