    We are visiting WDW with my sister-in-law, her husband, and two 3-year olds. I want to make dining reservations for 8, but they may be too tired to go. Can we downgrade to a 4 person reservation when we arrive at the restaurant? Any penalties? Thanks.

    Hi, Cary!

    You are smart for making your dining reservations ahead of time.  Many of the popular locations fill up quickly, so especially for a party of 8, you will be happy to have your dining times planned ahead.

    As long as some of your dining party shows up for your dining reservation, you will not be charged any penalties.  Just let the Cast Member at the podium know your party size when you arrive.

    I do want to let you know of a new feature on My Disney Experience which I think you will find helpful.  You can now MODIFY a dining reservation right on your account.  You can log into your account on your smart phone using the My Disney Experience app.  From there, you can change the size of your dining party, or change the time of your reservation (based on availability).  No need to cancel and re-book, just modify!  

    If your ENTIRE party decides to change plans and not attend the dinner, you will be charged a penalty for each person on the reservation, so make sure to modify/update your reservation as soon as you know plans change.  Reservations can also be booked/modified by calling (407)WDW-DINE.  A quick cancellation can be made by calling (407)WDW-CNCL.  As a rule, cancel 24 hours prior to your dining time.
