    We are visiting the WDW resort in July for our kids' first trip. Our oldest daughter (age 6) has Autism. I have read about the GAC, but am trying to see how it will work into our plans for her. What can I expect from this help?

    Hi Angel!  Disney is extremely diligent in accomodating all guests from all walks of life, and have been especially conscious of the theme park experience for special needs guests.  The Guest Assistance Card is designed to help guests with special needs and their families enjoy the attractions at Walt Disney World in the best way possible.  If a guest has a mobility issue, it allows for them to use a separate entrance.  It does not allow for front of the line access, solely a means for the guest to experience the Disney attractions.  It alerts Cast Members at each attraction that your party may need an alternate entrance (should long lines be difficult for her), or closer seating, or perhaps seating near an exit.  It will enable her (and you) to enjoy the Disney magic in a way that is most comfortable for her. 

    You can request a GAC at Guest Relations at the park of your choice.  The Cast Member may ask questions which will allow them to dispense the GAC that is most appopropriate for your family.  The GAC is good for length of stay, so you do not have to request a new one at each park.
