We are visiting WDW 4/7-5/4. We have reservations for breakfast at Chef Mickey's for 7:40 am. We are staying at ASM. What is the best way to get to the Contemporary and how much time should we allow?

You're cutting it close. If you can take a taxi, that might be the best scenario.  However, if not, the buses begin running at 7 a.m. to and from the resorts. Fnd out which park has early magic hours, take the bus to that park, disembark, and then head to the bus stop for the Contemporary Resort--unless of course the Early Magic Hours are at Magic Kingdom or Epcot, than just hop the Monorail.  Since that park will be open early, the buses should be more frequent. At least that is how it has worked for us in the past.  Ask Guest Relations too, sometimes, they can give you another resource idea, that may not be available all the time, and will get you there on-time as well.  It never hurts to ask....Hope you have a fabulous breakfast at Chef Mickey's!!!!
