We are visiting WDW 11/6 - 11/12, 2011. I need some ideas for preparing and getting our sons excited for their first Disney trip. They will be 12 months and 22 months at the time of our vacation.

Hey, Allison! We have two little biscuits too. We took them through similar Disney conditioning prior to their first trips so that we could get the biggest WOW factor when it was go-time. There were two activities that we implemented prior to their first trips - and these are activities that we continue to do today. One was Pizza & a Movie nights each Friday night, starting with movies that had strong ties to the theme parks. Things like Toy Story, Mickey and the Beanstalk, Pooh, princess movies, etc. In regards to the pizza, that was non-negotiable. I'm a pepperoni man, Allison. That's how I roll. The second thing we instituted were Disney dance parties. We amassed a hefty vault of Disney tunes and would break into impromptu dance parties nearly nightly. To make sure we kept ourselves honest to upholding our sense of boogie fever, Thursday night became the official Disney Dance Party night. Trips to the Disney Store, repeat viewings of the free vacation planning DVD and YouTube videos of the life size characters are also good ways to immerse the kids.
