We will be visiting WDW in June with our entire family, a party of 16. What's the best way to reserve dining for a large group? We know we may have to split, but how would you recommend splitting and is there a way to request tables near each other?

    Greetings, Paul!

Welcome back to planDisney with an excellent question. You are going to have the time of your life this summer, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort. So many new experiences were created especially for the celebration. You will have to check out Disney’s Fab 50 Character Collection. Across all 4 theme parks, you will find 50 golden sculptures paying tribute to the most loved Disney Characters.

I love traveling with my extended family to the Walt Disney World Resort, it takes a little bit more effort in the planning stages, but it is so much more fun making memories with the entire family. Dining reservations can be challenging at times with a large group. Several restaurants can accommodate larger parties like The Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom. One strategy that has worked for my family is that we make reservations for groups of 6 family members at a time. We have some extra planners who help make our dining reservations for as close to the same time as possible. The reservation system will not allow you to have more than one reservation under your name at the same time. When we check in for our reservation, we let the Cast Member know how many of our parties are together. Some venues may be able to accommodate you to be seated together and some may not. There are no guarantees, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. For special occasions, I have called and spoken to a Cast Member to make our reservations. I recommend calling as early as possible when phone lines open at (407) 939-3463 and letting them work their magic on your plans.

While traveling with such a large group, do not miss out on the opportunity to capture the core memories that you will be making with the purchase of a Memory Maker product. This will allow you to capture those memorable group family photos in front of Disney landmarks, as well as the onboard ride photos available. Your entire family can be linked to your Family and Friends account and share any photos taken by Disney’s PhotoPass Photographers and uploaded to your Memory Maker. You will have unlimited downloads of your photos for 45 days. This will give you plenty of time to download, share, and post your photos as you wish.

Do not forget that every member of your party will need a theme park ticket and park pass reservation for each park you plan to visit. I recommend that you make your reservations as soon as possible because all theme parks have limited capacity and a reservation is required to enter.

Good luck with your dining selections, and if you have any more questions, please come back and visit us again.

    See ya real soon,
    Andrea
