We are visiting WDW June17-23 2012, is this a busy time of year and what is the whether like at that time? Thanks!!

    Hi, Aimee!

We travel to Walt Disney World at that time of year frequently; the kids have just gotten out of school up North, and it's a little cooler than later in the summer.

While the parks are definitely more crowded during the summer and holiday seasons, I still think that you're ahead of the game, crowd-level wise.  Because I'm a teacher, our family summer trips are always after the school year lets out and before the next one begins.  June always feels less crowded to me, no matter how late in June we arrive.  If this is the season during which you can travel to Walt Disney World, then you've picked the right week!

Regarding the weather?  You'll most likely have daytime temps. in the 90's, but the humidity might be less than it will be in, say September.  Pack a light jacket for an occasional nighttime breeze, though.  You might also find a passing rainstorm, if the afternoon heat has built up during your particular trip. (Some years we have no rain in June; others, it rains for 30 minutes daily, then blows away.)  If this should happen, you can pick up very reasonably-priced, heavy-duty ponchos at almost any of the gift shops on park or resort property. They'll keep you surprisingly dry until the sun reappears, usually very quickly at that time of year!

Wishing you a magical trip!  Send us any additional questions!  We love to help!
