We are visiting WDW fromJanuary 8 -13, 2013 and can't wait!!! But will be there during the marathon. We want to see as much of the parks and not the marathon as possible. What are the parks to avoid due to the marathon and on which days??? Thank you!!!

Hi Katy!  January is a great time to visit Disney World!  The weather is usually very comfortable and the crowds are lower than usual.

Saturday morning of your stay (the half marathon), you really shouldn't notice anything.  The runners will be finished by around 10 a.m. and most of the parks will be unaffected.  (Epcot will have a few of the last runners coming through after the park opens, but that will be the only park with runners in it after opening hours)  The Epcot parking lot is where runners finish, so I would probably avoid Epcot on both Saturday and Sunday if you want to be safe.

Sunday morning is the full marathon.  The runners will be out of the Magic Kingdom before it opens.  So, Magic Kingdom would be your best bet on Sunday.  The second park on the marathon course will be Animal Kingdom, so runners should be through it by no later than 10 or 11 a.m., making that your second choice.   Runners will be going through Hollywood Studios and then Epcot toward the end of the race, so you will want to avoid them to avoid runners.

The main issue on race mornings isn't at the parks, but it is dealing with road closures.  All of the Disney buses will be well-equipped to find alternate routes.  If you are driving yourself, just stop by your resort lobby for road closure information.  And again, Sunday will be the bigger issue with the longer race.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions.  Have a wonderful trip!
