We will be visiting WDW for the first time the week after Thanksgiving this year with my 15 and 11 yr old, we've allotted a whole week to allow time in each park but also want a little down time too. How would you split your time/tickets?

Hello Mary!  Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Planning your first Walt Disney World Resort vacation is equal parts Endless Magic and overwhelming experience. With 4 Theme Parks, 2 Water Parks, a world-class shopping complex and so much more to experience, arranging your days takes a lot of work.

Whenever I travel to Walt Disney World Resort for a vacation with my family, we apply the 2-days on and 1-day off formula. That means for every 2 days in the Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks, we take 1 day to explore and enjoy our Walt Disney World Resort hotel or Disney Springs.

We also leave whichever Theme Park we are in at midday for some down time at our Walt Disney World Resort Hotel.

With 2 older children, you could take advantage of the Park Hopper Option on Theme Park Tickets  and visit 2 separate Theme Parks on your "on" days with a rest in between as well.

If my kids were the age of your children, for a 7-day Walt Disney World Resort vacation I would schedule our first 2 full days in Theme Parks (Magic Kingdom and Epcot), followed by a rest day at our Resort Hotel, followed with 2 more days at Theme Parks (Disney's Hollywood Studios Theme Park and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park), followed by a rest day split between our Resort Hotel and Disney Springs and another visit to Magic Kingdom on our final day.

After my schedule visits are set, I begin my planning by arranging Advanced Dining Reservations and FastPass+ Selections first, using those key plans to schedule the rest of our days.

    Happy Planning!
