    We're visiting WDW in few weeks, and on our first day, we are having dinner at Chef Mickey's for my daughter's 4th birthday. About how long do think it will take to get from the MK to the Contemporary Hotel by monorail (or is there a better way?)

    A visit to the Magic Kingdom followed by dinner at Chef Mickey's has become a first day tradition for my family. It's a great way to begin your vacation!

    The two best ways to get to the Contemporary from the Magic Kingdom are either via the monorail as you mentioned or via the pedestrian walkway. In my experience it takes a similar amount of time to walk as it does to ride the monorail - about ten minutes either way.

    The monorail might be slightly faster if you happen to walk up to the station and get onto a train with no waiting in line. If you happen to just miss the monorail, you will have to factor in the wait time for another to come by. I usually opt for the walk because it doesn't involve waiting in line, although another plus of the monorail is that it will drop you off inside the resort one floor above Chef Mickey's.
