We are visiting WDW this Aug. for the 1st time. We're a family of 4 and my Father-In-Law is coming along for the ride. He will be needing to rent an ECV (has a bad hip, is able to walk-No long dist) Will he have any problems accessing any rides w/ ECV?

    Hi Karla ~

A first trip to the Walt Disney World Resort is super exciting! You'll never forget the first time you drive through the gates ~ I still get teary every single time!
I love that you are planning ahead for your Father-in-Law.  It will make things so much smoother for him once you arrive.
Some attractions allow Guests with Mobility Disabilities to remain in their wheelchairs or Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs), some require Guests in ECVs to transfer to wheelchairs to board, and other attractions require Guests to be mobile to board. If an attraction requires Guests in ECVs to transfer to a wheelchair, they will have a courtesy wheelchair for use at the attraction.

For those attractions that require Guests to be mobile, keep in mind that if your Father-in-Law is able to transfer but needs physical assistance, someone in your party will need to assist him. Cast Members will be happy to move his wheelchair or ECV once he has boarded the attraction and will have it waiting for him afterwards.
Most of the queues at the Walt Disney World Resort can now accommodate Guests traveling in wheelchairs or EVCs. If there are queues that require Guests in wheelchairs or ECVs to enter through alternate queues, you can see a Cast Member for assistance.
Please feel free to visit with all of your questions.  We are hEAR to help you!
Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
