Hi there, Lucy!
Welcome to planDisney! One of the best parts of planning a
Walt Disney World Resort holiday is that every day brings you one step closer to the magic. Whether you're dreaming of Cinderella Castle or imagining that first bite of a Mickey-shaped treat, there’s nothing quite like the excitement of having a Disney countdown on the calendar!
I’m especially thrilled to hear you’ll be calling
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside your home away from home. This beautiful property holds a special place in my heart. It was the very first Disney Resort I stayed at as a child when visiting with my parents and brother. Back then, it was known as Dixie Landings, and even today, walking those scenic pathways brings back such wonderful memories.
Riverside captures the charm of the Louisiana Bayou with two distinct areas: Alligator Bayou, with its rustic touches, and the Magnolia Bend mansions. Just a short walk or relaxing boat ride away is its sister resort,
Port Orleans – French Quarter. I always recommend heading over there for some fresh, warm beignets. Trust me, they're worth it! And if you're looking for something uniquely relaxing, the Fishing Hole at Ol’ Man Island is a fun way to spend an afternoon.
Regarding the tourist tax, when booking a stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, taxes and fees, including the resort (tourist) tax, are typically included in the total price when booking, especially when reserved directly through Disney or an authorized travel provider. That said, it’s always a good idea to check your confirmation details to see a full breakdown of charges. If you booked through a UK-based travel agency or tour operator, they may have bundled everything together for you, but if you're unsure, reaching out to them directly will give you peace of mind. Rest assured, there are no surprise resort fees due upon arrival.
Lucy, I hope this helps as you get ready for what is sure to be a magical adventure. If you’d like help choosing some favorite dining options, I’m a big fan of
Boatwright’s Dining Hall right at your resort, or if you’re wondering whether one of the
Lightning Lane pass options is worth it (spoiler: yes, it is, especially during busier times of year!), I’d be more than happy to help you plan the details. Feel free to come back and
visit me here at planDisney anytime!
TTFN,
Brent
