we will be visiting Walt Disney World in October for my Daughters 5th Birthday. We would like to have a cake to take back to our room at night to celebrate. Does the Main Street Bakery have/order cakes that we can carry out when we leave the park?

    Hi Stacie,

Are you staying in a Disney-owned resort during your vacation?  If so, call the private dining line and ask that a cake be delivered to your guest room.  That will be much easier than having to carry one back from the theme parks at the end of the day.

Six-inch birthday cakes are available without an advance order at most Disney table service restaurants.  If you happen to be dining at one of these restaurants in the Magic Kingdom, you could order one of these to take with you at the end of your meal, if you like.  If you're looking for something bigger or fancier, call the Disney cake hotline 48 hours in advance to special order a cake for your daughter.  That number is (407) 827-2253.  If you choose not to enjoy this cake as part of your sit-down dinner, just ask for it to be boxed-up so you can take it back to your room with you.

According to the Disney Food Blog, an unofficial fan site, the Boardwalk Bakery is the only place on Disney property where you can just stop in to pick up a birthday cake so I don't think you're likely to find birthday cakes for purchase in the Main Street Bakery. (Keep in mind that the Boardwalk Bakery request 48 hours advance notice for cake orders.)  Hopefully you'll be able to get the perfect cake for your daughter using one of the tips I mentioned above.

Have fun planning your daughter's magical birthday celebration!
