Hello, I will be visiting from the uk and plan on booking a polar patio or beachcomber shack. Can you advise what percentage do we tip the attendant, we have DDP so will pick up our own quick service items.

    Hi Melissa Ann,

Welcome back to planDisney! It’s always a pleasure to see familiar names pop up, and I want to thank you for continuing to trust us with your magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning. It means the world to have wonderful Guests like you returning with great questions!

You're in for a great day at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park! From the thrills of Summit Plummet to the waves of Melt-Away Bay, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. And when it’s time to take a break and soak in the sun, a Polar Patio is the perfect way to elevate your day with a bit of luxury. These private spaces offer a shaded escape from the Florida sunshine and come complete with seating, towels, a locker, refillable drink mugs, and a cooler stocked with ice and bottled water. But the real magic? Your very own attendant who’ll check in throughout the day to assist with things like Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering and directions around the park.

Let’s chat about gratuities. Since you’re visiting us from the UK, it’s understandable that tipping norms might feel a little unfamiliar. The good news is that tipping at a Polar Patio is completely up to you. While not required, it's certainly a kind and appreciated way to recognize the excellent service provided by your attendant. In the U.S., a customary gratuity for table-service dining is typically 15–20% of the pre-tax bill. But with unique offerings like a Polar Patio, it’s less about a set percentage and more about how you feel the service added to your day. I often say it’s a "measure from the heart" situation! Just be sure to check whether a gratuity has already been included, and if not, you’re always welcome to offer a tip if you feel it’s deserved.

And here’s a little extra Disney magic. If a Cast Member truly made your day special, consider leaving a compliment through the My Disney Experience app or by stopping by Guest Relations at the entrance of Blizzard Beach. It’s a wonderful way to recognize their exceptional service and ensure the magic continues for other Guests.

Since I haven’t had the chance to experience a Polar Patio myself just yet (it’s on my Disney bucket list!), I’d also recommend speaking with the Cast Members at Guest Relations upon arrival. They’ll be able to confirm the current tipping policy and might even have a helpful suggestion or two based on their experience.

Wishing you a cool and carefree day at Blizzard Beach, Melissa Ann! If you have any more questions, we’re always here and happy to help.

    Cheers,
    Brent
