Visiting for 2nd time in early May (leaving in 10 days!). Last visit was in mid-June (hot & we all got terribly sunburned). New to water parks. Based on experience, what are the best tips for avoiding sunburn? How often should we reapply sunscreen?

Hi Sarah - I'm so sorry you got sunburned last time.  That must have put a damper on your vacation.

To help prevent sunburn, you should cover up as much as possible - you can buy clothes that are lightweight and have sun protection (I purchased some at LL Bean), and wear a hat.  Make sure you use enough sunscreen (at least one ounce per usage) and apply it frequently (every two hours or so and every time you come out of the water).

In addition, my family likes to take a break during peak sun hours.  We'll have an indoor lunch, and then head inside for my kids to nap while we take turns exercising in the gym and/or reading a book in the room.

Don't forget to keep yourself hydrated.  You can freeze some water bottles and let them defrost throughout the day.

Have a great vacation and stay safe!
