Hi there, Jeanette!
You are just a week away from some time in the magic. Can you believe it? I just returned from a trip last week, and you are in for such a treat. The
70th Anniversary has just kicked off, and there is so much to experience from sweet treats to nighttime spectaculars to parades and more! Before I get too far ahead of myself, let's take a look at your question to ensure a smooth arrival into the parks.
It sounds like you have already registered your son for the
Disability Access Service (DAS). This is a service provided to Guests with developmental disabilities who are unable to wait in a conventional queue for an extended period of time. It's great that you've already taken the time to register so that you can head straight through those Main Entrance gates when you arrive. As soon as you scan into through the turnstiles, you can request your first attraction return time directly in the Disneyland Mobile App. Navigate to the three-line icon in the bottom right-hand corner, and on the next screen, you should see a box that says DAS. Tap there, and a list of the current standby return times will be visible. This is where you can make your first selection. Follow the steps, choosing your party (you can have up to three Guests in addition to the one registered for DAS) and confirming the reservation. As soon as that's done, it will show up in the "My Day" tab in the app, and you should be good to go. Ten minutes after you have scanned into your first return time, you will be able to make your next selection, and this is how you can move through your day. Be sure to have the Guest registered for DAS be the first to scan in at each attraction.
When you arrive at the attraction, if it has a
Lightning Lane, that will be your entrance point. Note that sometimes there is still a short wait in these queues. If the attraction does not have a Lightning Lane entry, you will typically scan in at the exit. If it's unclear, just ask a friendly Cast Member at the attraction, and they will be happy to direct you. If you have any questions about using DAS throughout the day, you can always visit the
Accessibility Services Kiosk in the Esplanade between the two parks. Hours are subject to change, but it is typically open one hour before park opening and up to 2 hours before park closing.
Jeanette, I hope this helps set you up for a successful day in the parks. The energy at the Happiest Place on Earth is buzzing with all the new offerings for the 70th. I recommend looking through the
Disney Parks Blog's Guide to the 70th Anniversary to see the highlights and earmark any must-see experiences. Personally, I love to happen upon a parade! If you're like me, you won't want to miss the new
Celebrate Happy Cavalcade making its way down Main Street at Disneyland Park or the
Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! parade over at California Adventure! Be sure to check the Entertainment Schedule for daily showtimes.
If you have any more questions, we are always here for you at planDisney!
Magic awaits!
