Hi there, Nicole! Welcome to planDisney--I'm so glad you decided to be our guest. Thanks for visiting from across the pond! I'm happy to help with your vacation planning question and I hope you're getting excited for your upcoming trip to the
Walt Disney World Resort.
There's no better way to cool off than a day spent at one of the Walt Disney World water parks! Both
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park offer a variety of attractions for Guests of all ages. I took a peek at the park hours in early September (currently available through September 9, 2024) and saw that Typhoon Lagoon will be open for your aquatic adventures! My girls adore the Surf Pool, and we love to take a few family turns on Miss Adventure Falls between relaxing laps in the lazy river.
You are certainly correct that the paths and steps can get pretty toasty during a sunshiny Florida day! Guests are welcome to wear water shoes in the water parks, so long as they don't have any zippers or buckles. On most of the waterslides, Guests need to remove their shoes and hold them on the way down. I spoke to a few Cast Members and some of my planDisney pals, who said the type of shoe you are describing will likely be fine (as long as it is not a flip-flop style), but that this is ultimately up to Cast Member discretion on the day of your visit. For the most up-to-date information, the
"Know Before You Go" section of the Typhoon Lagoon site is a good resource for your visit!
Nicole, if you decide to paddle on back to Florida in 2025, Guests staying in a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel will receive free water park admission on their check-in date! This is a great perk that we're excited to enjoy on our June 2025 trip.
Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney! If there are any other questions our crew can help with as your vacation approaches, please reach out anytime--we're all EARS!
