Hello Wendy! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
When having a splash at
Walt Disney World Resort Water Parks, the most important element to ensure an Endlessly Magical experience is to ensure that everyone in your party if comfortable.
When my family and i venture to either
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park or
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park, we are sure to pack a park bag with all of the essentials (sunscreen, hats, goggles, water shoes, etc.).
Both Flip Flops and Water Shoes (without metal buttons or zippers) are allowed inside the Walt Disney World Resort Water Parks, however only water shoes without metal zippers or buttons are allowed to be worn on many of the attractions. This is due to safety concerns for the Guest and to avoid damage to the attraction.
Flip Flops may be worn up to the front of many attractions and held in your hands during the ride, but not for rides that require the use of your hands, such as Toboggan racers at Disney's Blizzard Water Park.
With how hot it can get in Florida, I insist my young children wear water shoes or strap up sandals to avoid hot pavement and burning feet, but they are not interested in the larger attractions yet, so it has yet to become an issue.
If you visit Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park, do not forget about the adjoining
Winter Summerland Miniature Golf course before you leave. It's an excellent reprieve from blistering sun and the exhaustion a full day in a Water park can bring.
Have a Splash!
