Hey there, Therese!
Welcome to planDisney, and thanks for stopping by with such a great question. I'm so excited to hear about your upcoming stay at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and Disney's Old Key West Resort—both offer a relaxing escape while keeping you close to the magic of Disney Springs!
I grew up exploring the waters of the Sassagoula River at Disney's Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter and Riverside, and I recently had the chance to stay there again with my family. Let me tell you—there's nothing quite like the ambiance, the incredible dining options, and the super convenient complimentary water transportation to Disney Springs!
I understand your concern about wildlife, but rest assured—Guest safety is always a top priority at Walt Disney World Resort. While you might notice posted signs about local wildlife, Disney takes special care in maintaining their waterways. I've never thought twice about taking a peaceful stroll along the Riverbend on my morning coffee run—or heading out for a late-night Mickey Ice Cream Bar fix! That said, nature has a way of doing its own thing, so I can't say with 100% certainty that you won't see a real-life Louis from The Princess and the Frog or Tick-Tock the Crocodile from Peter Pan. As always, be careful and vigilant when dealing with little ones and bodies of water!
Regarding your question about water transportation, Saratoga Springs and Old Key West offer complimentary boat transportation to Disney Springs. This is one of my favorite ways to travel, especially in the evening when the sun sets over the water. Boats typically run every 15 – 20 minutes, starting in the late morning and continuing into the night. Check with the front desk or your My Disney Experience app for specific hours as your trip approaches!
If you're staying at Saratoga Springs, you also have the option to walk to Disney Springs, depending on the location of your room. The Congress Park section of the resort offers the closest walking path, so if you'd like to be near this area, I recommend asking a friendly Cast Member at the front desk to see if a room in that section is available.
Since you'll be spending time at Disney Springs, let's talk about food—because there's so much to love! Here are a few of my top picks:
- Summer House on the Lake – Stop by the cookie bar for some of the best sweet treats around. Trust me, these cookies are huge and worth every bite!
- Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew – This is the place to go if you love donuts (and, honestly, who doesn't). The flavors are next-level, and their cold-brew coffee pairs perfectly.
- Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar – If you're looking for a fun atmosphere with creative cocktails, this Indiana Jones-inspired spot is the way to go.
- The BOATHOUSE – This is always a solid choice whether you're craving fresh seafood or a delicious steak. Plus, you can even take a ride in an Amphicar afterward!
I hope this helps answer your question, Therese! If you have any other Disney vacation planning questions, swing by planDisney.
See you real soon!
