We are visiting the parks for the first time with a 10 yo and a 7yo. My 10yo has ADHD and Park are usually a trigger for her behaviors. Is there anything in the parks or around that anyone has found to be helpful?!

    Hi Karin,

I'm SUPER excited to hear that you'll soon be experiencing your very first Walt Disney World Resort vacation! You and your family are going to have a BLAST and make memories together that you'll all cherish forever!

As the mama of a kiddo with special needs myself, I'm happy to let you know that we've always found "The Most Magical Place on Earth" to be magical for everyone! With lots of great services for Guests with disabilities, the Cast Members work really hard to ensure that each and every Guest enjoys their trip. I'd encourage you to stop by a Guest Relations location inside a theme park with your entire party once you arrive. Share with them your concerns about your daughter's troubles with waiting in traditional queues and ask about the Disability Access Service. If they feel like this service will best meet your family's needs, they'll get it all set up for you, then you'll simply be able to approach a Cast Member at an attraction entrance and ask to use the service. The Cast Member will scan your MagicBand or card and give you a return time when you'll be able to hop in the FastPass+ queue to experience the fun. You'll be able to use the service in conjunction with the FastPass+ service and may use it throughout the length of your stay, one attraction or experience at a time.

I do have a few other tips, too, to try to help your trip go smoothly. I'd recommend bringing some comfort items with you like headphones, sensory toys, or favorite snacks. If your daughter is feeling overwhelmed, please feel free to ask a Cast Member to help you find the nearest quiet location where she can take a break. I'd also suggest using mobile ordering for your Quick service meals or making dining reservations for Table service restaurants so that mealtimes are more peaceful.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Karin, and please come back and see us again if you have any other questions. I hope that you and your entire family have a truly magical vacation!
