We will be visiting the park with our almost 3 year old and 11 month old in a few days. We were thinking they might enjoy the Animal Kingdom. What can you recommend for us to do there specifically? Will our younger child be able to go on the safari safely?

    Hi Shelby!

My two young children have always loved Disney's Animal Kingdom and I can assure you there are many attractions, shows and sights to entertain your li'l Mouseketeers.

Kilimanjaro Safaris offer large vehicles to transport you through the Harambe Wildlife Reserve, allowing you to safely secure your little one in your lap. When my children were infants I'd simply sit towards the middle of the bench as the attraction is not fast, only a bit bumpy at times.   I can remember a time a giraffe had blocked our jeep's trek, offering AMAZING photo opportunities! My toddlers were in awe of the giraffes so close to our vehicle. The latest "buzz" about the safari is the newest addition, the Plains Zebras. Have your camera ready!

I'd also suggest visiting the following attractions or shows, surely to entertain your little ones:

    Discovery Island Trails
    Festival of the Lion King
    Pangani Forest Exploration Trail
    Wildlife Express Train
    Affection Section
    Maharajah Jungle Trek
    The Boneyard
    Fossil Fun Games
    Finding Nemo - The Musical
    TriceraTop Spin

Picking up a Times Guide at the front of the Park will provide you times of both Finding Nemo-The Musical and Festival of the Lion King. The first and last shows of the day are the least crowded.

With little ones, I also wouldn't miss Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade to view Mickey and friends in true safari fashion!

If you've considered character dining, I'd recommend Donald's Dining Safari at Tusker House. Dining here for breakfast or lunch will allow for personal interaction with Disney Characters and delectable food offerings for Mom and Dad! Advanced Dining Reservations are highly recommended.

Hakuna Matata, Shelby! Your family will LOVE Disney's Animal Kingdom!
