visiting in Oct-11 for my son's first birthday. He has a dairy allergy. Is soy milk available anywhere in the parks? also, I wanted to order him a cake at Chef Mickey's but do they have dairy free options?

Hi Heather!  Wish a very Happy First Disney Birthday to your son for me!

You are going to LOVE Disney Dining for your son!  We have been taking my niece, who is now 5, to Disney with us since she was born.  She has severe allergies to dairy, tree nuts, and she used to be allergic to eggs, too.  (She can now tolerate eggs, thankfully.)  As my sister always says, her daughter gets to eat better at Walt Disney World, and she feels safer with her food choices there, than anywhere else!

Yes, soy milk is available throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.  I have seen the single serve cartons available for purchase in the Resort Gift Shops and counter service restaurants.  It is also available at many restaurants within the parks.  Just ask your server if you don't see it listed on the menu.

And yes, you can order a dairy free cake for him at Chef Mickey!  My best advice is to let them know that you wish to order this when you make your Advanced Dining Reservation.  I would also call again at least 48 hours ahead just to make sure that they have this prepared.  However, most of the restaurants throughout Walt Disney World have these cakes and cupcakes and brownies prepared ahead of time, or can prepare them upon arrival.

I would mention it again when you show up for your meal, and then again to your server once you are seated.  Usually the chef or manager will come out to your table to address your concerns and tell you exactly what all they have or can prepare for your son.  In fact, at Boma, they took my sister around the buffet and pointed out everything that my niece could and could not eat, and then they even asked if there was anything that she desired for them to "whip up" for her!  Amazing!

I am so excited for you and your son and all of the amazing options he has available at Walt Disney World to celebrate his special day!
