Hi there Kate! I've traveled to Walt Disney World with dietary restrictions in my own family and been amazed by our positive experiences!
While there aren't specific gluten-free kids' menus at this time, rest assured that Disney works diligently to accommodate the special dietary needs of their guests. Therefore, the decision regarding adding the Disney Dining Plan to the Magic Your Way Vacation Package really comes down to personal preference.
For table-service meals, simply call (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463 and have the cast member note your son's gluten allergy on your dining reservations. If
booking online, select "I have special requests or a food allergy" and then, Wheat (Gluten). Check out this
list of quick-service locations at the theme parks that, upon request, may accommodate guests' common food
allergy or intolerance requirements.
During your vacation, you may wish to check out
Babycakes in Downtown Disney
for some delicious gluten-free dessert items, many of which now qualify as snack items on the 2012 Disney Dining Plans! The Babycake Bakery recently started offering special dietary cakes that serve 8-10 people and can be ordered to coincide with your already
booked Advance Dining Reservation at a Walt Disney World restaurant.
Just call the bakery at 407-938-9044 with at least a week’s notice and
have your restaurant confirmation number, date, and reservation time
handy. What a wonderful surprise for your son to have a cake that the
entire family can enjoy delivered to your table at the end of the meal!
May your Disney vacation be
practically perfect in every way!
