Hi. We will be visiting Nov 7 - 14 and staying off property. We were thinking that we might visit some resorts to see the holiday decorations and have a meal/ snack when we need a break from the parks. Is this ok? Which resorts are a must-see in Nov?

    Hello Cristin,

You have chosen an especially magical time to visit. The holidays are absolutely amazing at Walt Disney World. I am always so impressed with the extra touches and phenomenal ways that Disney brings this special time of year alive throughout the parks and resorts.

Decorations begin to go up during the first couple of weeks in November. Since Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party begins this year on November 8, so the decorations should be up during your visit. It is so unbelievable how quickly they can transform the resorts into these festive spaces.

My favorite resorts to see are Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and Disney's BoardWalk Inn. At the Grand Floridian, you will find a life size gingerbread house with all the trimmings. Just wait until you walk into the resort and begin to smell the scrumptious scents of this holiday treat. At Wilderness Lodge, your eyes will be immediately drawn upward at the gorgeous towering tree at the center of the lobby. The rustic decorations are simply awe-inspiring here. Gingerbread again fills the air at BoardWalk Inn with the gingerbread carousel and turn of the century adornments throughout the resort. Again, these are my personal favorites, but you can find decorations that are just as fun and pretty at many of the other resorts as well.

I'm glad to hear that you are treating yourself to the magic of the holidays outside the parks themselves. Seeing the resorts is a great way to take in this special holiday season while taking a break during your day.

    Have a jolly holiday!
