Visiting in Nov '11 (7 nights PH & DP) w/husband & sons (9 mo, 3 & 4). Deciding between CSR or POFQ? Are the rooms at POFQ all renovated now? At POFQ is it worth the extra $ to get a water view room (are there balconies)? Which resort wld u rec

Port Orleans French Quarter (POFQ) rooms are being renovated one building at a time. Buildings 6 and 7 are completed and building 4 is almost finished. The renovation is scheduled to be completed by April 2011, although dates are subject to change. The rooms look nice with flat-screen TVs, queen size beds, nice furniture and new bedding. Pictures are available on www.tripadvisor.com and www.portorleans.org.

In my opinion, the water view room is not worth the extra cost. We have stayed in standard view and water view accommodations at POFQ. The nicest views are of the river from a corner room. Since this resort does not have private patios or balconies and has exterior corridors, the view isn't that important.

I would recommend POFQ for your family. It is a small, charming resort that is convenient for families with small children. You'll appreciate the short walks to the food court, pool, boat dock and bus depot. If you drive a car, the parking lots are convenient to most of the buildings.

The Sassagoula riverboat transportation to Downtown Disney is fun for adults and children. If it's chilly, be sure to dress warmly. It's about a 20-25 minute journey.

At the pool, Doubloon Lagoon, children enjoy sliding down the tongue of a sea serpent. Whimsical sea creatures squirt water into the pool and a nearby playground beckons kids to run off any extra energy.
