Hello! I am visiting next week with my two boys ages 9 & 6. It will just be the three of us. One of my boys likes the faster rides and the other does not. Any suggestions on how best to navigate the rides?

Hi, Heather! Hooray! Your trip to the Disneyland Resort is less than a week away!

With so many different types of attractions in both parks, I am confident that the whole family will have a fabulous time. I would focus the majority of your time riding attractions that might appeal to both children. Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Toy Story Midway Mania, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan's Flight, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, and Soarin' Around the World (40" height requirement) might be good options with which to start. According to Park Rules, your older son is old enough to ride attractions by himself if you both feel comfortable with that situation. So depending on which type of attraction he likes, he can board by himself while you take your younger son to meet a character or ride a different attraction.

If you have some time in the next few days, I suggest watching attraction ride-through videos online so your boys can get a feel for different attractions. There are some attractions, like Splash Mountain, that aren't necessarily fast, but do have other thrill elements like falls and abrupt movements. Having an idea of how different attractions operate will help you determine your course of action.

Finally, be sure to download the Disneyland app. This will show you current attraction wait times, FASTPASS return times, locations to meet your favorite characters, and so much more. It will be your best tool for navigating the parks efficiently.

I hope this helps. Have a fantastic time at the Happiest Place on Earth!
