Hello Stephen! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Rest assured that staying at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside will put you right into the middle of great action.
While Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is my favorite of the moderate offerings at Walt Disney World Resort, it is a large and sprawling resort that can put you far away from the main building or even too far from the added benefit of being a sister resort to
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. When booking your room, you'll be interested in a Preferred Room in building 14 in the Alligator Bayou section or building 90 or 95 in the Magnolia Bend section.
You can make a personal request for rooms when you check-in online up to 60 days before your arrival on your
My Disney Experience Account. As well, I contact the resort 5 days before our arrival and politely ask that a request be added to my reservation for said room. Guest Services always mentions that they cannot guarantee a particular room, but I find it doesn't hurt to ask.
When we stay at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, we try to book a River View
Royal Guest Room in Building 90. This puts us equal distances away from the Ol' Man Island Pool Area, the Main Building (with Dining and Shopping options) and a 10 minute walk from Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. At the sister resort, you little ones will love the new Mardi Gras-themed water play area.
Have a Magical Vacation!
