Hi! Visiting next August from the UK! We've visited many times and stayed with Disney, and never actually used the EMHs. How do we access the parks before rope drop when we have early EMHs and how do they control who can stay in after regular closing?

Hi Lizzie! Many guests with young children have found the Extra Magic Hours tough to include with their Disney vacation. Getting the little ones up an hour or two early or staying awake until the wee hours can be next to impossible even with mid day naps.

Extra Magic Hours are indeed a great way to get a kick start to the park attractions without dealing with long lines so it is  certainly something to try to use if you are a Disney resort guest. If a  park has early hours then it will start allowing resort guests in at that time. Lines usually start to form about thirty minutes before that. Only guests who can show their resort guest room card are allowed entrance or if you have a new Magic Band that also will show you are a resort guest.

Wristbands used to be issued for the evening hours but they did away with that and instead ask that each guest to show their room card before queuing up. With the new technology taking place in testing right now I am not sure what they will do for the Extra Magic Hours in the future. It is likely the Magic Band will be the answer but stay tuned for continuous updates!
