We are visiting this month and wanting to take a carriage ride. Wondering which one to do with a 9 and 1 year old? The Port Orleans or the Fort Wilderness one?

Hi Ashley! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! A carriage ride is a great family activity and really highlights that Walt Disney World Resort offers so much more than just thrill rides and shopping.

I think your choice depends on other factors like the surroundings of the journey and what else your family might be able to enjoy at either resort before and/or after your ride. (Example: Both offer bring-your-own-s'more bonfires, but Chip and Dale turn things into a campfire Sing-A-Long at Fort Wilderness.)

The Port Orleans version will transport you to a charming southern dreamland, with a scenic bayou on one side and beautiful antebellum style mansions and gardens on the other. Should you choose Fort Wilderness, things will be a bit more rustic, woody, and trail-like as the setting is the not-so-wild west.

Horsin' around can make you hungry, and luckily both locations have great dining options: Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort has everything from a hidden gem of a buffet, Trails End Restaurant, to the acclaimed and long-running dinner show Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review. Disney's Port Orleans is unique as you can easily walk between the two resorts, Riverside and French Quarter, where you can find New Orleans style creole dishes at sit-down Boatwright's Dining Hall to just beignets at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory.

Really I don't think you could go wrong either way. Happy planning and we'll see you real soon!
